Spain as a resort

Posted by Ryan

Spain is a very popular holiday resort, for many age ranges. The most visited hotspots in Spain include: Madrid, Barcelona, Ibiza, and Majorca. Spain is part of the EU, and therefore uses the European currency.

The reason Spain is so popular, is because of the climate, beaches and cities. The main type of cuisine in Spain includes chicken dishes (i.e. red pepper sauce with chicken etc), vegetable dishes and beef dishes. The main area of party life in Spain is in Ibiza, in San Antonio Bay, where there is a whole strip of bars, right by the beach called the west end.

England as a resort

Posted by Ryan

England itself is surprisingly a holiday resort as well. Some may view England as an unpredictable country, due to its climate continually changing. Many like to visit the country though due to the illustrious history here, as well as captivating sites, including Stonehenge. Other sites include Parliament, Alderley Edge and several sites in London.

Some people even live in England, finding the climate more bearable, as well as the jobs found in the country. Main holiday destinations in England include: Brighton, Cornwall, Somerset, Manchester, London and Birmingham. The main currency used in England is its own, even though the country is part of the European Union.

All inclusive holidays

Posted by Ryan

When going on holiday, some people prefer to book a holiday known as ‘all inclusive’. All inclusive holidays are where you get your food and your drink ‘free’ in the hotel that you have paid for.

This is a good idea if you would rather spend the money on ornaments or souvenirs. It also means you may possibly gain an idea of that country’s cuisine. The drawback of an all inclusive holiday, is that you would be less up for going out to have a meal outside the hotel, as this would mean missing out on a free meal, and spending more money than you had to.

Holiday in same country

Posted by Ryan

Usually people like to go on holiday ina foreign country. The decision to travel abroad is based on several considerations, including: ‘escaping the country’ for a while, the climate of the country, the history of the country and the scenic views of the country in question. There are those though, whom prefer a holiday within the same country.

This might sound strange as they wouldn’t be escaping the countries climate (maybe by a few degrees), though they would be visiting new locations. For example, a Yorkshireman, sick of the rain and coldness of the North, may like to venture to Brighton, one of the hottest areas in England, as it’s cheaper than travelling abroad and is somewhere new to visit.

Rush before holidays…

Posted by Ryan

One of the most difficult preparations for a holiday isn’t booking the holiday, or even saving for it; it is trying to remember to bring every last item that you’ll need for the holiday. Sure, some of us like to think we are fairly organised, but everyone gets frantic about whether they have forgotten something or not.

Commonly forgotten items include: clothes, sunglasses, currency, jewellery and mp3 players. The reason people get frantic is because they are going away for a week, and most items people possess they couldn’t live without, or would heavily prefer not to. This is why it is always a benefit to write a list, at least for the most disorganised amongst us.

Why do we like beaches so much!?

Posted by Ryan

Many would think, what would a holiday be like without a beach!?

Almost every holiday destination features a part of the ocean in which people can bathe in, swim in or simply relax by. Not every holiday however, offers this. In some parts of the Middle-East, there is no sea, as it is almost desert, same with holiday destinations in the UK. Some holiday goers prefer this. Tourists in particular travel to visit ancient history and monuments, with the beach bearing little significance in this.

It would be a fair bet though to assume most travellers would like a beach, as it is one of the places where you can find the utmost tranquility.

2wenty’s Holidays

Posted by Ryan

2wenty’s are an established company in which young holiday party goers, between the age of 20-30 and book a holiday, and enjoy the amount of entertainment on offer. 2Wenty’s have hotels all over the world, though the places in which they are almost always are party destinations, including: Ibiza, Malia, Magaluf, Egypt, Ayia Napa, and Kavos.

Upon arriving to their holiday destination, the holiday travellers are told to get to a meeting where upon an explanation of the Island is given, as well as brochures of events and nights out for them (which can sound decent, but also be very expensive). The hotel where the travellers stay at are always top notch, offering scenic views and great entertainment.

Camping in the South West

Posted by Ryan

Last summer, as a bit of a recession busting holiday, we decided to pack the tent in the car and head down south. We had decided on a hiking holiday and to be base ourselves around the coast of Devon. We found a quiet campsite based just outside Ilfracombe, in a little village called Hele Bay. The village consisted of a hotel/bar and a garage, with just one road running through it. In the height of August, the weather was practically tropical and numerous walks along the cliffs meant there was plenty to do.
Maybe the biggest draw though was the amount of ‘real-ale’ pubs available to sample local brews. On the weekend we ventured down into Ilfracombe which seemed to come alive with vast numbers of day-trippers. Also a nice touch, was the French market with traders who had come over and set up their stalls for the day with all manner of different products.
All in all, a nice relaxing short break, with weather to boot !!

Spain – Arenal Den Castell

Posted by Ryan

If you have a young child and still want a relaxing beach holiday, I would advise going to Arenal Den Castell, Spain. A friend recently stayed in the Club Agua Marina hotel which was a half an hour taxi ride from the Mahon Airport and gave it rave reviews. She has a 4 year old son and was impressed by the range of children’s activities to amuse him, leaving her to relax in the sun. There is a tennis court, gym, 3 swimming pools, in fact everything you could want on holiday really. The hotel is close to the beach which means you are able to explore the local area, and it is recommended to try out the local seafood restaurants which all do incredible Mediterranean food. Also, if you go, take a boat trip around the coast to see some gorgeous scenery. You probably wouldn’t need to leave the hotel unless you like to explore however, because all of life’s essentials are readily available, including the hotel food which ranges from seafood to Italian to basic English grub such as chips!

Mum’s gone to Iceland

Posted by Ryan

Well maybe not Mum, but I recently went out to Iceland to discover more about what is a really interesting island, just a couple of hours north of Scotland. One of the first things you come across upon arrival at the airport in Keflavik is the vast amounts of alcohol in the arrivals lounge. Now you may think this is normal, but up until 1989 Iceland was still in prohibition, with the population celebrating ‘Beer Day’ every year on the 1st March. So it is seen as custom if you are staying or visiting Icelanders to bring alcohol.
The country as a whole is relatively small, but has scenery that will blow your mind. Many films have been filmed in the ‘space-like’ landscape and NASA do some of their training here.
In terms of things to do and see, you can go on one of many arranged guided tours, or alternatively hire a 4×4 and go out into the Golden-Circle yourself. Many different sizes of waterfalls including the magnificent Gullfoss which at 20m wide and 2.5km in length should definitely be top of the list to see.
Finally on your way back to the airport, you can get a bus that incorporates a trip to the Blue Lagoon, your chance to relax in the geo-thermal water, renound for its benefits to the skin.
All in all, a holiday you will remember for life and possibly choose to return, as there is so much to do.
